Printer Xerox - One Touch 4800TA reviewIf the One Touch product name seems familiar to you, but it has no relationship with Xerox, then do not worry - your mind is not playing tricks on you. Visioner has a trademark licensing agreement with Xerox to produce a line of branded Xerox scanners for home or small office.

And if you’re familiar with the last line of One Touch of Visioneer scanners then instantly recognize the layout and style of silver and black design of 1200 x 4800dpi One Touch 4800TA. The only thing that makes you about seizing this scanner is just how thin, with a height of only 66mm. Being only 432mm long and 216mm wide, which does not occupy much space on the desktop either.

The lid hinges along the longest side of the unit, which is useful if you’re scanning bulky items such as books and magazines. Built on the cover is a film holder allowing you to scan 35 mm slides and negatives using the built-in backlight.

Through a combination of a USB 2.0 interface and a neat bit of technology, of course scans fast enough. Instead of the usual complete two passes to produce a self-exploration cultivated, the One Touch 4800TA uses something called Flashback Bi-directional Autoscan, which does everything in a single pass. With this feature turned on the scanner previews of the image in one direction, the growing edges of the image before investing again to carry out the final high-resolution scanning.

Willing in a panel on the front of the One Touch scanners are five buttons, four of whom are pre-configured to send the scanned image directly to the PC for editing (via PaperPort), OCR text for any work , Or e-mail directly to a printer. The fifth button is user can configure to send the image to any application.

While the scanner can be fast, image quality varies. Scanning a page A4 resulted in an image that faithfully reproduced the colors and had a good level of detail. Moreover, the explorations of a 6 x 4 inch color photograph and the dark were negative with an orange tint, and the search for a black and white photo test lacked definition, especially when compared to the output some of the opposition against the One Touch 4800TA is tone.

Packaged with the One Touch 4800TA are the ScanSoft PaperPort Deluxe 8 - which includes TextBridge, PaperPort OCR tool itself - and a copy of Ulead PhotoExpress to manipulate their scanned images.
