HP Printer - Photosmart C6180 review
May 27, 2008

“All-in-one office machines are fashionable at the moment, because maintaining the promise (especially for small businesses) to combine many tasks at a high level of costs remarkably low. HP is a leading player in this field and has been eagerly trumpeting the virtues of Photosmart 6180, especially for his alleged ‘final’ print speeds of 32ppm mono documents and 31ppm in color.Well, certainly not up too much space as is a conveniently compact 17.5 x 15.2 x 9.2 inches, weighs 10.6kg and a comparatively feathers features fax, copier, scanner and a printer. The optical scanner has a maximum resolution of 4800 x 4800dpi and directly above the lid of the scanner is an automatic document feeder (ADF), which will hold 50 sheets of A4 or Letter and up to 35 sheets of legal length. The scanner can not duplicate any size larger than A4.
The main inbox has 100 sheets and there is an additional 10 x 15cm (6 x 4 inches) above the photo tray, which can dispense with 20 sheets before you have to reload. If you need an option automatic two-sided printing accessory can be purchased separately and can scan slides and film (but without the holder that comes as standard with the slightly more expensive HP Photosmart C7180).
There are six large, well labeled, Vivera ink cartridges (CMYK more light magenta and cyan light) that easily slot in the center of the machine, and on the front has four slots for memory cards (supporting CompactFlash, SD / MMC, Memory Stick, and xD) and a USB port that is PictBridge enabled so you can import photos directly from your digital camera.
The large front control panel dominates the design, but it is refreshingly straightforward to decipher. There is a separate column for each function and each step of the process appears on the bright 90-degree rotation, 2.4-inch LCD that allows you to make copies and scans without connecting to a PC (if you want to use the basic variations) or you can opt to take over command of HP printer software supplied.
What will be particularly attractive for users of small businesses are the networking options through 802.11b / g Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections, while the fax alternatives include 60 individual programmable speed-dial numbers and up to 60 groups.
However, the print speeds - despite the claims of the manufacturer - are relatively low unless you’re using one’s own HP Advanced photo papers. The same applies to the exploration and functions of copy, although printing from memory cards was significantly faster. Moreover, the sharpness and fidelity of color reproduction is a high level, so that this balance is indeed good value for money.
